Senator Chris Dodd
Biography
Christopher Dodd was born in 1944 in Willimantic, Connecticut, the son of Senator Thomas Dodd. After attending Providence College, Chris Dodd spent three years as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic before going on to the University of Louisville Law School. Almost immediately after law school, Dodd ran for the House in the open-seat eastern Connecticut 2d District and, in the Watergate year of 1974, won comfortably. He was re-elected easily and in 1980 got the Democratic nomination to succeed Senator Abraham Ribicoff. Senator Dodd is in his fifth term as a U.S. Senator and currently serves on the Banking, Housing, & Urban Affairs, Foreign Relations, Health, Education, Labor & Pensions, Library, and Rules & Administration Committees.
